2005-2016

Senior curator, Royal College of Physicians Museum London, 2005-2016

I established the RCP’s museum, achieving full ACE museum accreditation in 2008. The collections had not previously been registered and first opened freely to the public in 2009, reaching 15,500 visitors annually by 2015.


I directed all museum services and collections in a Grade I listed building, and led museum strategy and policy, fundraising, budget and operational planning, collections management, marketing and social media.


I developed/curated a new in-house public programme of temporary exhibitions and events including the award-winning projects:

Leadership of a dynamic subject specialist network of 25 London medical museums.
I led the committee in the development and coordination of marketing initiatives, public and networking events and staff training and skill sharing.
Group treasurer, 2006-2010 and vice chair, 2010-2014.

2000-2005

Curator, Paintings, Prints and Drawings

Museum of London

Management, research, documentation and interpretation of 20,000 art works, 16th century to contemporary.

Research and fundraising for new acquisitions.

Exhibition coordinator for major temporary exhibitions Creative quarters (2000) and 1920s (2003)

Lead curator of temporary and outreach exhibitions and the 18th-century galleries.

Author of an audience research report informing museum permanent gallery redevelopment.

1997-2000
Assistant Curator, Haslemere Educational Museum Surrey

Sole responsibility for the collection management, care and display of an internationally significant collection of over half a million objects including fine and decorative art, textiles, archaeology, ethnography, social and natural history.

Documentation project manager and supervisor of a team of 20 cataloguing volunteers.

Coordinator of an HLF millennium award funded touring exhibition of European folk art The Lost Arts of Europe, 2000 with the University of Brighton.
